Application of Ozone in Chemical Oxidation
Ozone (O₃) is a strong oxidizing agent with an oxidation-reduction potential of up to 2.07 V (second only to fluorine and hydroxyl radicals). It features controllable reaction selectivity and produces no secondary pollution, as its decomposition product is oxygen (O₂). Therefore, it is widely used in the field of chemical oxidation.
Advantages
Green and residue-free. The decomposition product is O₂, with no secondary pollution such as halogenated hydrocarbons caused by chlorine-based oxidation.
Mild reaction conditions. The process can be carried out under normal temperature and atmospheric pressure, without the need for high temperature or high pressure.
Adjustable selectivity. Reaction pathways can be controlled by adjusting pH and catalysts to meet different reaction requirements.
It integrates sterilization and oxidation, and also possesses disinfection functions, making it suitable for the integrated "oxidation + disinfection" process.
